A honey badger found its way into the tavern and caused a bit of a ruckus until the fortress' stray dogs tore into it. The year passed with few exciting events. Honey badger being a jerk interrupting construction I locked the dwarfs out in winter so that a big honkin clutch can hatch sometime in spring/summer. The chicken farm provided a buttload of eggs. I don't mind making a mess of the sand/dirt layers so that the Beautiful Stone below can be more carefully set up.
bottom right is furniture storage, and just above that is the plump helmet farm (cave mushrooms used for brewing drinks) up top are brewer's stills and cook's kitchens those 2x2 stairs connect to the stairs in the first floor of the tavern.īottom left is the chicken coop. This mess is the first underground layer. There is a butcher and a craftsdwarf shop working together to produce loads of bone bolts for archery practice. I prefer squads of combat dwarfs to tower-defense mazes of stonefall traps.Ī nice little tavern. I asked them to bring weapons and armor next year. The diplomat agreed to pay extra for 'figurines' but I think masterwork food production will provide more than enough value for any trades. Two stacks of prepared food paid for the whole lot. I traded with the dwarven caravan for some weapons and a lot of different ingredients for our cooks. I set up a barracks on top of the tavern, hoping to get dwarfs used to fighting outdoors (in swarms of bees) but never got around to setting up any squads. They might need to be moved if more storeys are added to the tavern. I hope there are no downsides and honey mead is easy enough to produce. There are native honeybees all over so had some hives set up on top of the tavern. Here they're laying out the roof (and possible second floor?) Dwarfs are feeling bad about having nowhere to pray. There are a handful of poets keeping esteems high. Ok the whole band thing didn't really carry yet
